When 19th century immigrants discovered the Mediterranean-type weather, fertile soil, and pastoral hillsides vineyards were sure to follow; and today, the winemaking region of Barossa Valley is famed for its award-winning wines, tours and tastings. From Adelaide, you'll travel north to the Barossa Valley, a 559-square-mile area graced with 150 wineries and 80 cellar doors. Soak up the valley's serene scenery on a panoramic drive and stop at two different wineries. During the wine tastings, you'll learn to appreciate the unique flavors and blends of Barossa's grapes. Visit Seppeltsfield Wines for a behind the scenes look through the estate's treasure trove of historical buildings and spectacular surroundings. Learn of the Seppelt family history and their profound influence on the Australian wine industry before enjoying a tasting of five wines from the table wine and fortified wine ranges. At the next stop you will have another tasting experience before enjoying a main-course lunch with an accompanying glass of wine. The last stop for the day, your host will provide an overview of the different grape varietals grown within the vineyards. A structured wine tasting will follow, incorporating approximately five wines and covering basic wine education.
