Two dynamic, historic cities are showcased on this all-day adventure. Travel by train on an approximately 2 ½ - hour train ride to Berlin. Once in Berlin, visit the ground where the Berlin Wall once stood. Admire the 18th-century Brandenburg Gate and see the famed Checkpoint Charlie. From there, it only takes you approximately 45-minutes by motorcoach to get to the city of Potsdam created by Prussian Kings via the first Prussian Highway, Royal Route No. 1. This baroque enclave is home to several noted landmarks, including the New Palais, the grand estate Sanssouci, and a charming Dutch Quarter with over 100 red-brick buildings. Your drive takes you over the River Havel on the Bridge of Glienicke, famous for having been the location to exchange spies during the Cold War. Your tour concludes with water and a small snack on a train ride back to port.
Special Notes:
The train ride between Warnemünde and Berlin is approximately 2 ½ hours each way. The train is air-conditioned.Tour sequences may vary to avoid congestions at venues.
The coach for the city tour is equipped with seat belts, guests are required to use them. Guests may not stay on the coach during free time. The tour runs during all weather conditions. Guests should be prepared for the possibility of rain.
It is advisable to bring some small change of Euro coins as some shops do not accept other currencies nor Credit Cards for small purchases (furthermore, guests may have to pay for public bathroom facilities, usually between 50,- cents and 1,-Euro pp). Shopping location may vary as most shops are closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Only a few souvenir shops may be open.
