Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Meet the flower-painted "Le Truck" buses and enjoy a two-hour scenic drive through beautiful Bora Bora. This narrated tour circles around the 22-mile road that surrounds the island and encompasses points of interest, scenic sights and historic landmarks.

Your route takes you past magnificent coconut groves and hamlets that hug the shoreline. See the main villages of Vaitape, Faanui and Anau with their mysterious maraes, ancient open-air temples. Note how these were constructed with stone and coral.

Continue passed the American military shelter and relics from World War II and see the huge, seven inch naval cannons over 20 feet long on their swivel bases. Then take in the spectacular views from Paopas Point and Matira Point.

Scenic photo opportunities abound on this tour. You'll stop at Anau Lookout to gaze over the coral inlets surrounding the island. In the distance, catch a glimpse of the neighboring islands of Raiatea and Taaha. Panoramic views from Taihi Point allow you to see the majestic 2,400-foot-high Mount Otemanu, which overlooks the entire island.

"Le Truck" makes a stop at Mama Ruta's shop for a traditional pareo demonstration. Learn how Tahitians paint these colorful pieces of clothing, how to tie and wear them. You will have the opportunity purchase one of these wonderful garments.

Overlooking a magnificent lagoon, a stop at the world famous watering-hole Bloody Mary's is a must for all visitors to the island. Search the board posted in front for names of famous patrons such as James Michener who is said to have based his novel, "Tales of the South Pacific," on Bora Bora. You will also see the signature of musician Rod Stewart and actor Marlon Brando, who fell in love with Tahiti during the filming of his movie "Mutiny on the Bounty." When you step inside be ready for a surprise…the floor is entirely covered in sand!

Your tour makes a complete circle and you return to the "Le Truck" station and then on to the ship.

Special Notes:

Bloody Mary's is closed during the month of December - during this month a short photo stop will still be made.

"Le Truck" is an island-style bus and cannot store or accommodate wheelchairs or walkers.
