Join professional sea kayak guides on a tour of Chilkoot Lake. Your tour begins with a scenic, narrated drive to Chilkoot Lake. En route, you'll see downtown Haines and historic Fort William H. Seward, the first permanent U.S. Army outpost in Alaska and a National Historic Site. At the lake, you'll be outfitted with gear and receive an introduction to kayaking. Chilkoot Lake is home to all five species of Pacific salmon, numerous bald eagles, waterfowl, and one of the highest concentrations of brown bears in southeast Alaska. In addition to the thrill of kayaking in the midst of towering mountains, hanging glaciers and spectacular scenery, you may be treated to outstanding bear viewing during the riverside drive and paddle on the lake.
