Tucked between the mountains and two glacial-fed rivers, the Chilkat Valley shares its awe-inspiring good looks with the world's largest known concentration of bald eagles. So be prepared to take photos left and right as you explore this tranquil area. From the pier, you'll travel through historic Ft. Seward to Pyramid Island Lookout for photos of the mouth of Chilkat River where tons of glacial silt are carried to the sea each day. Back on the vehicle, you'll continue on to Letnikof Cove Cannery Lookout, famed for the stunning sight of the cannery's red buildings set in the shadow of the Rainbow Glacier and Chilkat Mountains. Photos taken, you'll travel to the mouth of the Chilkoot River, where hundreds of bald eagles sit in spruce trees lining the river or soaring overhead. On your return to Haines, you'll stop at Picture Point for shots of your ship against the backdrop of Ft. Seward and the gleaming Chilkat Mountain.
