Explore the verdant woods outside Helsinki with a trek through Nuuksio National Park, a pristine landscape of lush forest, barren hills, rocky gorges, and meadows and valleys. Located approximately 40 minutes north of Helsinki, the 53-square-kilometer (20-square-mile) park is a haven for many endangered animals and plants. Commune with nature as your guide leads you on trails along an easily-trod forest trail. Smell the fresh air, soak up the views and enjoy the quietness of the forest as your guide shares its secrets-including the resident flying squirrels. After working up an appetite, you'll stop at the campfire home base for a helping of delicious traditional Finnish pancakes cooked the traditional way over an open fire using only the best ingredients served with sweet jam, coffee and tea. Before returning to your ship, you'll have time to browse the Nature Center's souvenir shop.
