An extraordinary trio of Alaska attractions - a whale watching cruise, a wilderness island Alaska surf-and-turf meal and the breathtaking Mendenhall Glacier - combine on this ultimate Juneau experience. Board your expedition vessel at Auke Bay for an exhilarating wildlife cruise. Whales are so plentiful in these waters that you're guaranteed a sighting June through August. Then, step ashore at the lovely Orca Point Lodge on Colt Island and enjoy wild-caught Alaska fish and Alaska game meat with homemade sides. Situated in a secluded setting, stroll down to the beach before re-boarding your catamaran for a return cruise. A scenic motorcoach ride brings you to the Mendenhall Glacier, formed during the Little Ice Age, which began about 3,000 years ago. From across an iceberg-dotted lake you will see the dynamic flowing force, carving its way down the sea. Built into a cliff above the valley, the visitor's center offers interactive displays and U.S. Forest Service interpreters.
