Experience this one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore the very best of the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness region, located 60 miles southeast of Juneau. Your adventure includes exciting, close-up views of breathtaking Tracy Arm Fjord and majestic twin Sawyer Glaciers, on this in-depth exploration of Mother Nature at her best. Board your Alaskan-built expedition vessel and relax in the spacious cabin, surrounded by panoramic windows. Tracy Arm is a classic fjord, with turquoise tidewater, elevated glaciers, and a towering rock wall over a mile high. Cruise beneath cliffs that rise 4,000 feet above the sea and thrill to the sensation as the vessel cruises almost directly under a plunging waterfall. The area teems with wildlife and the waters are home to humpback whales and harbor seals. The boat makes numerous photo stops and an onboard naturalist provides a wealth of information about the area. A picnic-style meal is included.
Special Notes:
In the event unpredictable ice conditions preclude your cruise ship from entering Tracy Arm, the tour will be modified to explore Endicott Arm, a fjord and tidewater glacier of equal beauty. Ice conditions may preclude the vessel from visiting both glaciers in Tracy Arm; if one glacier is traversable, extended time will spent at the other glacier and exploring the fjord. To fully enjoy the outside observation decks, participants are encouraged to bring a warm, rainproof jacket, hat and gloves. This tour is only available on select voyages.Meal: Sandwich, cookies, doughnut holes, smoked salmon on crackers, coffee, tea, cocoa, water
