The historical ruins, town and mine of Treadwell come to life as you walk through time, from the discovery of gold in 1880 to the tragic cave-in of the mine in 1917, on a unique guided tour using augmented reality (AR) software. This 2.5-hour adventure puts an iPad in your hands and applies the latest visual technology. Covering 0.75 miles of trail, you'll engage with 11 fully scaled augmented-reality stories showcasing what made Treadwell famously the largest city in Alaska for its time. See a full re-creation of the original 500-foot wharf complex, an interactive 3D scaled map of over 100 miles of mine tunnel, and a life-size model of a 1900s steamship. Learn the mining process, "shop" at the original Treadwell general store, and witness a dramatic representation of the night of the cave in, leading to the collapse of much of the town in under six hours. Attendees will be provided with an iPad, carrying case with shoulder strap, and bottled water. Return to port after this fascinating day.

Special Notes:

The tour covers roughly 0.75 miles on a well maintained city trail. The trail has slight elevation changes but is generally wide and flat. Heavy rains can make parts of the trail muddy.
