Tap into your inner Indiana Jones in search of proof that Baja's desert was once underwater. This unique experience takes you to one of widest dry riverbeds and canyon door, remnants of a geologic timescale that dates back almost seven million years. An expert guide will share his knowledge of the past and present history of the Gulf of California as you walk along the arroyo (dry riverbed). Learn about the changing sea level, how the land moved higher or tilted up in tectonic upheavals, and witness the physical evidence of prehistoric life. Imagine the thrill of finding evidence of prehistoric creatures and the environments they lived in as you walk the course of over a mile. If you get lucky, you may find a shark tooth or sea urchin spicules among many different types of fossilized shells and bones that are embedded in the canyon walls!
Special Notes:
Total walk is about 1.6 mile broken into segments. The walk is mostly flat although it is uneven and unpaved.Federal Law states that nothing can be removed from the river bed.
