Marlborough is New Zealand's largest and most famous wine region and is home to almost 30,000 hectares (over 74,130 acres). With its quintessential vineyards, windswept hills and breathtaking coastal scenery, Marlborough is best explored on a cycling tour led by a local guide who'll offer an in-depth look at the vineyards and the most popular varietals grown here. Bikes are recreational-style with comfortable seats; helmets are provided and the ride is suitable for all fitness levels. You'll travel from Picton by motorcoach to The Vines Village where you'll embark on a leisurely six-kilometer (four-mile) cycling route and stop for a tasting of three wonderful examples of Marlborough's wines. Then, set off at a gentle pace to two more boutique wineries. By now, you may have worked up an appetite. Lunch and a tasting will be served in a private room at the final winery.
Special Notes:
The terrain for biking is flat. Easy cycling is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. You will bike approximately six-kilometers (four miles), with a number of stops along the way. Bikes are recreational-style bikes with comfortable seats and suspension seatposts. In case of inclement weather a driving wine tour will be substituted. Must be 18 or older to drink alcohol.Details
