Hop on a small, sturdy, Icelandic horse, a breed originally introduced by the Vikings, and enjoy a relaxing ride through lava-laden scenery past lovely vistas of mountains, shimmering lakes, and windswept moors. Your 2.5-hour adventure begins when you depart the pier for a short, scenic drive just outside of Reykjavik's city center to the Ishestar Riding Stables. This exceptional facility has been offering riding tours for over 35 years. Begin with comprehensive instruction on the basics of horse riding followed by a visit to the paddock to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident. A quick turn in the arena gets you ready to set off on a well-travelled route through picturesque rural Iceland accompanied by an expert rider.
