Board your motorcoach for a scenic drive through Iceland to the small town of Eyrarbakki. You'll continue on to Stokkseyri, a coastal town famous for its black sandy beach, and disembark at a local restaurant that specializes in Icelandic lobster plucked fresh from the ocean. Sit down and enjoy a scrumptious feast of Icelandic lobster (langoustine), cucumbers, salad, couscous, and grilled potatoes. After lunch, you'll drive along the coast to Lake Kleifarvatn. The barren, moon-scape surroundings are uniquely beautiful and fascinating. Near the lake's southern end lies Krýsuvík, a geothermal area. If you look closely, you can see powerful jets of steam escaping from beneath the earth's crust and sulfurous gases rising from numerous vents. On your way back, travel through Reykjavík before returning to the pier.
Special Notes:
The weather in Iceland is very unpredictable. TO recommends wearing sturdy, closed toe footwear with a non-skid sole, and waterproof outerwear. Krysuvik has wooden steps and platforms and guests may not step off those paths. It can destroy vegetation and / or cause serious burns and injury. The wooden steps at the Krysuvik hot springs can be quite uneven, we kindly ask guests to take caution when walking in that area.
We reserve the right to reverse the itinerary if necessary. Should the Krysuvik geothermal area be closed, you will visit the Hveradalir geothermal area instead.
