From the ancient artifacts of Akrotiri buried beneath the ash of a volcanic eruption in 1450 B.C. to the lively streets of Oia, explore the history, culture and landscapes of Santorini on this fascinating, six-hour adventure. Unveiled in 1967 after being shrouded for over 3,000 years, Akrotiri is remarkably preserved and offers great insight into the island's ancient history. Your knowledgeable guide will escort you through this unearthed city, considered one of the most important prehistoric settlements in the Mediterranean. Reboard your motorcoach for the picturesque village of Oia, perched high atop the cliffs of Santorini's northern terminus and known for its quiet beauty and breathtaking views of neighboring volcanoes. Explore independently, strolling through the narrow cobblestone lanes, and view the brilliantly whitewashed buildings, shops, sun-bathed cafés and blue-domed churches. Conclude in Fira, the island's capital, and take a steep walk to the upper portion of town and meet the aerial cable car ride.
