Your excursion begins with a sightseeing tour of Sitka. Sites you'll pass include the Russian Bishop's House, St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral, and Fort Ray. Continuing on, you'll journey to Sitka National Historical Park for an optional walk along the scenic paths lined with totem poles and discover the visitor center for a look at modern crafts and ancient artifacts. Then, you'll travel to the historic Tlingit village area where you'll hear Native songs and stories and learn to speak Tlingit. Later, explore and photograph bald eagles, owls, hawks, and other birds of prey at the Alaska Raptor Center, an open bird habitat and research clinic. At the end of your journey, you may either return to your ship or choose to do further exploration on your own in Sitka's historic downtown where you can enjoy a self-guided tour of St. Michael's Cathedral at your leisure.
