Your guided tour around the city of Tromsø begins as soon as you board your motorcoach for a drive around the island, past the old city center, Lake Prestvatn, and the Meteorological Institute. You'll make your way to the 180-year-old Polar Museum, which celebrates the explorers, hunters and researchers who used Tromsø as "The Gateway to the Arctic." Exhibits include photographs, films, vintage equipment and artifacts. Next, you'll stop at the Arctic Cathedral, the most recognizable landmark in Tromsø. The stunning architecture features a 114-foot high entrance and pronounced cross. The Cathedral's interior features chandeliers created in Czechoslovakian crystal, crafted to resemble hanging ice formations. The vibrant-colored stained glass window, at 459 square feet and 75-feet high, covers the entire east wall. The cable car ride 1,300 up Storsteinen Mountain is your last stop, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city.
