How the Princess Standby Program works

Once we review availability, we’ll reach out via email or phone with a decision within 7-2 days prior to departure. Please ensure your contact details are accurate by completing Online Check-In after joining the Standby List. Standby confirmation is not guaranteed. See terms for details.

- If you receive a confirmation, then it is time to finish your booking and pack your bags. Now would be a great time to upgrade to a Princess Plus or Princess Premier package.
- If there's no space available and you do not receive a confirmation, you'll receive a full refund.

Standby confirmation is not guaranteed. Full payment is required at time of joining the standby list. If confirmed, the booking becomes non-refundable. If not confirmed, the payment will be refunded. Terms apply.
Terms & Conditions
Princess Cruises (“Princess”) offers eligible guests the opportunity to participate in the Standby Program on select sailings.
Guest must be 21 years of age or older to join the Standby List. The guest joining the Standby List may include additional guests traveling in the same stateroom, subject to availability and payment of the Standby Program’s prevailing daily rate for such additional guests. Such additional guests must be included at the time of joining the Standby List and are not required to be 21 years of age or older. The Standby Program is intended for guests residing within driving distance of the departure port.
To be added to a Standby List, guests must contact Princess Cruises Reservations by calling 888-370-3404 and provide the sailing details for the desired cruise. If the sailing is eligible and accepting Standby guests, full payment of the reduced Standby fare is required at the time of enrollment.
Standby fares are based on double occupancy. A 200% single supplement applies to solo travelers.
Participation in the Standby Program does not guarantee a confirmed booking. Guests will be confirmed only upon receiving official confirmation from Princess.
Princess will begin reviewing Standby Lists approximately 7 days prior to sailing and may continue confirmations up to 48 hours prior to departure, or later at Princess’ discretion.
If a guest on the Balcony Standby List is unable to be accommodated in a Balcony stateroom, they may be offered an Inside or Oceanview stateroom at the applicable reduced Standby rate. Guests may decline this option and receive a full refund.
Payment is neither a guarantee nor a promise that the selected sailing will have space/availability or that guest will be confirmed. Guest will only be approved to sail if and when official confirmation is given by Princess. If a guest is confirmed within their selected Standby category, the booking becomes non-refundable, regardless of whether the guest ultimately sails.
If a guest has not been confirmed by 48 hours prior to the selected sailing’s departure time, the Standby booking will be cancelled, and guest will receive a full refund.
The Standby Program is not combinable with other offers or promotions and is available only on new bookings for select Princess sailings. Princess Vacation Protection is not available for cruises booked through the Standby Program.
Guests may not select or request a specific stateroom or location onboard. Staterooms, if assigned, will be allocated automatically.
All cruises are subject to the Passage Contract available at www.princess.com.
The Standby Program is subject to availability and is applicable for new bookings on participating cruises only. The Standby Program, its availability, and its terms may be modified or withdrawn at any time without prior notice. Other restrictions and exclusions may apply.
